New ANG testing center in Fremont, CA opens. Cenergy Solutions Adsorbent Natural Gas (ANG) systems allow vehicle owners to fill their vehicles from their natural gas meters at home and businesses at pressures under 500 psi while achieving similar ranges as from conventional 3,600 psi CNG cylinders.
Cenergy Solutions announced today that it has opened a new ANG testing center in Fremont, California. The new technology developed and commercialized there will enable consumers and businesses to transition gasoline and diesel vehicles to use natural gas and refuel at their homes and businesses.
Cenergy Solutions is also having its Generation I ANG system tested by NW Natural, a large natural gas utility company covering Oregon and Southwest Washington and two fleet operators – The Gas Connection in Denver, Colorado and AAAA Generator in California.
Cenergy Solutions is also announcing its patent pending (filed May 2015) natural gas desorption system that uses dielectric heating inside ANG cylinders or tanks. This system causes the natural gas to release from adsorbents in order to fuel vehicles more efficiently.
ANG systems with dielectric heating increase the pressure in the CNG cylinder or tank for onboard fuel storage for vehicles, transportation tanks and CNG storage at fueling stations. In our new ANG test center, this technology will be used to store natural gas in vehicles at less than 500 psi and get similar volume as in a conventional 3,600 psi cylinder.
Communications & Power Industries LLC (CPI), which specializes in microwave components, is doing model testing for Cenergy Solutions’ Generation II ANG cylinders and their Generation III ANG conformable tank.
Cenergy’s ANG technology can be applied to existing DOT compliant natural gas cylinders, which typically have a service life of 20 years. This equipment will also make it possible to use low pressure (350-500 psi) tanks that are lighter and can be conformed to fit in various areas of empty space in a vehicle.
Cenergy Solutions is also scheduled later this month to do more DOT and NGV-2 testing at Advanced Testing Industry (ATI) and independent testing agency (ITA) dealing primarily with high pressure compressed gas cylinders manufactured in accordance with specific government regulations requiring certifications that they are manufactured and tested in accordance with the applicable manufacturing Regulations.
DOT compliant CNG cylinders that are now being used in CNG vehicles are considered safer than gasoline tanks. We believe that the lower pressure in ANG cylinders and tanks will make CNG systems even safer. By doing these worst case tests, Cenergy solutions is going the extra mile to make sure their ANG cylinders and tanks are as safe as possible.
Cenergy Solutions COO, Gary Fanger will be presenting the new patent pending ANG technology at the “Inside Track” at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, September 17th at the North American Natural Gas Vehicle Conference & Expo in Denver. Cenergy Solutions will also have an exhibit at the conference from September 15-17 showing how their ANG technology works on their Generation I, II and III cylinders and tanks.
Cenergy Solutions’ innovations were made possible by collaborating with global energy storage company EnerG2 and microwave and RF equipment manufacturer CPI.
